Let's get moving...

Just a few minutes after my last blog post, Eileen's doctor called and let us know that one test result had come back borderline and that she wanted to take another look at induction. So we fell to work ensuring our bags were all done, got a good night's sleep and readied ourselves for a trip to the office in the morning...
Since Lorenzo was a good weight and we were in the final ten days of the pregnancy, our doctor recommended induction and the course was set.

Thursday morning at 9am, we rolled up on Brigham and Women's Hospital in Brookline, valet parked the car (yes, Brits, they do that here) and were swiftly admitted to the labor and birthing floor. A couple of things to recognize... Although we were admitted and personally led to the right place in record time - they apologized for how slow they were ! The birthing floor here could legitimately be called a hospital in the UK. It is huge and spacious, well laid out and brightly lit - just like West Middlesex Hospital !?!?

The first treatment was given fairly early. A drug was administered to start a slow induction. It is meant to soften the canal and get the body thinking about birth. The idea was to have the dose on Thursday morning and then come back on Friday morning to begin labor - the final hope was that we would be parents by Friday night or Monday morning.

That was the plan - but with a Marwaha and an Alvarez in the picture, anything can happen.

After categorizing Eileen's cervix as 'A Wall of Steel', our doctor had to administer 3 DOSES of the drug throughout the day. We were in and out of the hospital all day and were old hands with the process. Finally, they sent us home for the night at 12 midnight, knowing that we would need to come in at 10am and start the full induction the next day...

That was the plan...
