So, I had never heard of this. Apparently, the 'Hallmark' culture in the US has spawned something called a Babymoon. A chance for the expecting couple to get some well-deserved time alone before all the madness begins...
Bearing in mind my aversion to air travel at the moment, we were left with only a few options for our short break. Work is crazy right now, so a long break was out of the question - and Uchi has Alejandra to think about. So, I looked at the Berkshires (a scenic mountain range in Western Massachusetts), Cape Cod (the famous holiday home for New Englanders) and Coastal Maine.
We eventually decided on Maine and a coworker told me of a very picturesque area called BoothBay Harbor. For all you Brits and foreigners, some of the Cabot Cove scenes for 'Murder She Wrote' were filmed there.
We stayed two nights and just took it very easy. Late starts, sea breezes, friendly coastal communities, afternoon naps, good food and long walks with the dog in the woods. I have to say, by the end I have become a Babymoon believer !!!
Now bring on the madness...
Sunset at Spruce Point Inn
One guest flew in by seaplane
The waterfront at Spruce Point
Our yacht in the distance
The old town at Boothbay Harbor
Sharp eyes will spot Lili under the table
Some of the waterfront
The great Waffle Eating Contest
The strenuous kayak race that we watched while eating and relaxing on the terrace
Our speedboat
